While a chiropractor utilizes alternative techniques to resolve the issues, a doctor uses modern medicine and methods such as surgery. Here, the main difference between him and a chiropractor is the fact that one professional uses medicine and invasive methods while the chiropractor does not utilize such techniques. Before a person gets to undergo surgery of the lower back, it has to be authorized and determined to be a medical necessity. It is only at such instances that it can be considered the only solution.
In some cases, it might be necessary for a person to go through medical care first before they can later on get to visit a chiropractor. This is why a medical doctor has to look at the situation first before the chiropractor can take over from there. This is the reason why either of these professionals might refer a patient to the other party. A doctor can refer a patient to a chiropractor who from there helps the patient to get better. All the orthopedic movements that the patient is taken through help the chiropractor to determine any problems. This is how they are able to investigate parts such as the lower spine. The ligaments are also checked so that the practitioner can come up with the right diagnosis and solution to the problem.
Modern techniques are applied even to the chiropractors’ practices including neurological test. Their aim is to look at the reflexes and muscle responses. These tests are also used to determine the sensation or feeling of the skin. To acquire extra information about the bones, CT scans and X-rays are used. These methods help in finding out other details such as the condition of its tissues and nerves. Such techniques are applied by doctors who also paying attention to any signs that might show what the problem is with the body. This is where a doctor prescribes rest and pain medication. This happens if the condition has not advanced.
The Dangers Of Taking Too Many Pain Drugs
Individuals who try and take NSAID‘s (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) painkillers wherever they feel pain even without the doctors’ advice are said to be at high risk of dangers. Drugs are not good to the human body every time they are taken. At some point they can cause great harm than good. That means that the situation can be pretty bad.
There are various categories of people who overdose due to different reasons. For example, kids at a very tender age can swallow drugs if they are left without proper care by their parents. They can even go ahead and share with their friends who are children like them. Another category of people who are believed to overdose are the teenagers due to their stubborn nature. Below are dangers of taking too many pain drugs.
Pain drugs can be lethal
Drugs can be life threatening to individuals with complications of the vital organs. Like the heart, lungs and the liver. One should be aware that the heart is the organ that supplies blood to other parts of the body through the blood vessels. If it is affected by overdose then a there is possibility of it failing and therefore there is likelihood of somebody dying. Lungs assist in breathing and that is why one should take great care so that they cannot fail. If they do, then the body can be in shortage of oxygen supply causing death. The liver is an organ that takes care of body’s metabolic reactions so as there can be supply of enough energy. It is sometimes overworked and it can fail making the organs not to receive the enough energy for their functions.
Complications of overdosing pain drugs
Overdosing pain drugs may cause one to feel confused; fall asleep and even one can go into a coma. This can be dangerous to a person if he or she vomits and breathes it into the lungs. This can lead to detoxification and they cannot be in a position to take in the required amount of oxygen. A person’s brain can die leading to death of the whole being.
There are situations where a person feels pain on the chest. This is due to dangers of taking too many pain drugs. One can find it difficult to breath and it is at this point when somebody start breathing deeply and eventually become shortage of air. This leads to damage of the lungs and finally death.
There are complications which are associated with abdomen due to overdose. People can have nausea or even vomit every time they eat. This means that there is very little or no food that is absorbed into the body for assimilation. Individuals can be deprived from food hence becoming emaciated. This could lead to organ failure due to lack of enough food to enable their respective functions. One can also lose weight drastically in a very short time.
Acceleration of bone and joint damage
There are those drugs that when taken in excess would lead to damage of the bones and acceleration of degenerative arthritis. A person may not be in a good position to support him or herself. This means that if an individual used to walk normally then it is impossible to do so again. All that is required is for one to use a wheel chair so that it can enable him to make movements from one geographical place to another. The normal performance of an individual would reduce because it is impossible to handle manual work due to inabilities.
Different drugs can have varying effects to individuals when overdosed. There are those that affect the brain and one is never in a position to reason and judge rationally. Instead, one can become insane. It takes the doctor’s assessment for one to be recognized as one of unsound mind. There are those drugs that affect the nervous system and the relay of information from the sensory nerves to the receptors becomes impossible. Also, the brain may not in the best position to interpret and control some movements. It is at this particular point when one is said not to control urine or the bowels movements.
In conclusion, individuals should use the drugs as prescribed by the relevant individuals. They should never overdo as they can makes things to be worse than better. Drugs should also be kept away from children to prevent them taking without their parents’ consent.
Alternative to NSAID use
Two good alternatives to NSAID’s are fish oil (pharmaceutical grade) and chiropractic. Fish Oil contains essential fats that the body uses to manufacture it’s own inherent inflammation repressing chemicals. According to reasearchers our body cannot make these chemicals if they are deficient in our diet. And we know from numerous sources that Americans are woefully deficient in the Omega 3 essential fatty acids that are concentrated in fish oil.
Another proven remedy for relief of arthritis pain is normalization of joint function through chiropractic adjustments of the spine and peripheral joints. This is accomplished by someone trained in chiropractic adjusting–a chiropractor. Chiropractors are easily located in all major cities and towns including chiropractors in Minneapolis and St. Louis Park, MN.

It was wonderful to grow up on the Pacific Ocean. I have so many fond memories from childhood relating to my love the ocean and the sense of peace and freedom that it gave me. I can remember sitting on a rocky shore (on a seawall that marked the limit of our front yard) and listening/feeling the waves come in for hours. It was a rhythm that soothed me and brought peace.
There were fun things too. We used a fish off the seawall in front of our house, catching catfish mostly. On one occasion after cleaning some fish that my dad had been given by a fisherman friend, we tossed the entrails onto the bare rocks before the tide came in. And when the tide came in the smell of the blood attracted sharks. We stood in our front yard looking out to the ocean and watch the Finns of 10 or more sharks swimming back and forth. The next time this happened we kids were ready with our BB guns shooting at the sharks from the safety of the front yard.
Occasionally we were invited out on fishing trips with a friend of my dad’s. These were long trips over a 2-3 day weekend. We sailed 5-6 hours out into the Pacific to some islands where we anchored overnight. During the day we fished around the islands catching Marlon, grouper, mahi mahi and (unintentionally) even sharks. It was the custom at the time to kill the sharks and throw them back overboard. I remember sailing along full throttle on that boat, lying down on the bow is the waves and ocean sprayed about. On a couple of rare occasions porpoises swam with us on the bow wave, playing. It was such a wonderful time.
As a result of living on the ocean, we eat a lot of fish. At that time the ocean was not as polluted as it is now (that was 40 years ago). So there was no talk or concern about mercury, PCBs or dioxins in the fish. We just enjoyed good fish. Unfortunately that’s no longer true. What I learned later in life as a nutritionist is that there are components of fish, particularly cold water fishes that are essential to human health. This is the reason that fish oil is being marketed as a health product. It contains omega-3 essential fatty acids which like vitamins, our body cannot make on its own, but they are necessary for health. There are plant sources Omega threes as well, but these are not as well utilized by the body as what is obtained in fish oil. Our body must convert what is available in plants to the same form that is found in fish before it can be utilized by our biology. On the other hand our body is able to directly use what is available in fish.
Fish oil contains two specific omega-3 fatty acids which are abbreviated EPA and DHA. EPA is used by the body to manufacture a cellular hormone which controls inflammation. DHA is found in the brain and has been shown to be beneficial in a variety of brain functions. There are a large variety of fish oil products on the market. These come as liquids or in capsules and in varying degrees of concentration of the active ingredients that our body needs (the EPA and DHA). When taking fish oil you should make sure that it has been cleaned by a process called molecular distillation which removes the Mercury, dioxins and PCBs. Generally speaking, depending on the concentration of EPA and DHA in the fish oil that you are taking, you’ll want to take 2-6 fish oil capsules per day as a maintenance dose.
